Panasonic GREEN IMPACT

A more sustainable, more equitable future

Since our founding, Panasonic has aimed to produce technology solutions that make the world a better place for all. It is clear that the most important thing we can do to deliver on this promise is to take direct actions that counteract the effects of climate change on our planet and restore the promise of a fulfilling life for future generations. Because if nothing changes, everything changes.

We believe in leaving the future to you. Not to chance.

Over 1 billion people across the world use Panasonic products every day. That’s a big number – and it comes with an even bigger responsibility.

Roughly 1% of global CO2 emissions from electricity consumption come from the use or manufacturing of our products1. So we need to address things right now if we’re going to give you a future you can enjoy, rather than one you need to save.

That begins by taking actions today to meet our climate responsibilities head on.  And we call those actions Panasonic GREEN IMPACT.

Own Impact

We’re minimizing the impact we have, reducing CO₂ emissions from our own value chain from the making and using of our products and services.

Contribution Impact

We’re cutting the CO₂ our products and services contribute to society through their use.

Future Impact

We’re mitigating future CO₂ emissions by introducing and developing new technologies.

Why Panasonic GREEN IMPACT?

Panasonic technologies are used by millions around the world each day. That’s countless lives transformed, endless tasks made easier, and a huge impact on society.
But that shouldn’t mean a huge, detrimental impact on the planet.

That’s why we’re making Panasonic GREEN IMPACT, and your future, our priority.

By the end of 2022, we’ve already achieved:

  • 31 zero-CO2 factories, reaching 37 by 20241
  • 99.1% factory waste recycling rate, normalized at 99% by 20241
  • 12,400 tons recycled resin used, to reach 90,000 tons in 20241
  • Circular economy models introduced across 10 Panasonic Group businesses – 13 sites by 20241

By 2030, we will:

  • Achieve net-zero in-house emissions
  • Reduce CO2 emissions from our own value chain by 110 million tons

By 2050, we will:

  • Reduce CO2 emissions from our own value chain and those of society by 300 million tons, or 1% of current global emissions, through products, services and new technologies that help others avoid emissions

Rethinking how we move

Transportation makes up roughly 16.2% of global greenhouse emissions.2

As the world’s largest supplier of EV batteries, Panasonic is working to lower costs and increase production to meet the growing demand for this technology.

Rethinking how we live

Residential energy contributes roughly 11% of energy-related emissions.2

Solar energy reduces greenhouse gases, improves air quality and limits water use in energy production. Our products are making it easier than ever to harness the power of the sun.

Rethinking how we work

Factories are responsible for roughly 24% of energy-related emissions.2

We’re testing alternative methods to fuel our factories to keep us moving toward a carbon-free future.
